Catalogue Note
The exotic floral borders include the distinctive four leaf plant which appears on Vizagapatam work and trade textiles from the same period. The motif was probably originally a lily or tulip and would have derived from European botanical engravings. Similar borders are found on a rosewood cabinet in the Victoria and Albert Museum (IS289 & a-195).
