Catalogue Note

The diamond-form piercings of this piece can be compared with the similar decoration of a ceramic lampstand that can be found in the Al-Sabah Collection, The Kuwait National Museum (see Watson 2004, p.319, cat.L.18).  This kind of decoration is reminiscient of the openwork found in many metal pieces of the Khurasani school, including lampstands and incense-burners.
