Condition

Illustration is slightly too pale. Very impressive figures after Ch. Cumberworth. Nice contrast of colours between giltbronze and patina. Veneered bases with chips in places. Large scale. Good condition.

Charles Cumberworth naquit aux Etats-Unis mais grandit en France où il étudia la sculpture sous la direction de James Pradier (1792-1852).

Une paire de statues identique, à deux patines, a été vendue par Sotheby's à Londres, le 30 mars 1990, lot 60.
