Catalogue Note

The photographs in this and the following three lots (181-183) come originally from the collection of Jean Kellogg (1910-1995), Weston's friend and neighbor in Carmel.  For more information regarding this provenance, please see Lot 30.

The exhibition label reads: 'Exhibited by The Photographic Arts Society, Inc. in The Photographic Arts Building, Balboa Park, San Diego, California.'  The Photographic Arts Society held a one-man show of Weston's work in August 1939, and it is likely that this photograph was included.
