Condition

This print, on a paper with a slight surface sheen, is in generally good condition. A tiny area on the print's surface (1 1/16 inch), at the right edge of the shard of glass, has been distressed, breaking the emulsion and revealing small paper fibers. This is only visible upon very close inspection. The following are visible in raking light: a faint, ½-inch, horizontal scratch in the upper left quadrant; a very faint, 5-inch, linear, horizontal impression running across the center of the print; a few small deposits of the photographer's original retouching; and light silvering overall. The photograph is mounted to a beige board that appears to have been trimmed. The back of the mount has some minor foxing and light surface soiling. The overmat, which is adhered to the original mount, and the bottom right corner of the original mount are lightly bumped. The presentation of this print, with Weston's full signature and date on the mount, is quite typical of prints made by him during the 1930s.
