Description

  • Ansel Adams
  • 'oak tree, snowstorm, yosemite national park'
mounted, signed by the photographer in pencil on the mount, his Carmel studio stamp (BMFA 11), titled and dated in an unidentified hand in ink, on the reverse, matted, circa 1948, printed in the 1970s (Morgan & Morgan, pl. 72; Yosemite: Ansel Adams, pl. 56; Ansel Adams at 100, p. 53; Classic Images, p. 45; Picturing Modernity, pl. 23)

Condition

This photograph is in generally excellent condition. The front and back of the mount have some inconsequential surface soiling. Karen Haas's and Rebecca Senf's book, 'Ansel Adams in the Lane Collection,' publishes the most comprehensive list to date of the studio stamps and labels Adams used throughout his career. Our dating of this print is based upon the authors' assessment of the use dates of stamp 11 on the reverse of this print: 1973 through 1977.
