Description
- il vassoio diam cm 42, la brocca alt cm 23,5, il grande vassoio cm 85x58; gr 13640 circa
composto da teiera, brocca, zuccheriera e due vassoi, con un paio di pinze per lo zucchero, non pertinenti, Dublino 1869-1870. Il vassoio circolare, su tre piedi d'aquila che ghermiscono una sfera, interamente ceselalto e inciso a girali e volute fogliacee, con cartigli ovali centrati da cespo di foglie, nel centro del vassoio un cimiero con leone a due teste inciso ed il motto "Malo mori quam foedari" il bordo a serto d'alloro con fermagli e palmette. Il grande vassoio ovale interamente cesellato e inciso a volute e girali fogliacee con otto medaglioni ovali centrati da figure femminili dall'antico, con prese ad ansa geometrica, il bordo a serto d'alloro. La teiera e la brocca con piede circolare liscio con fascia a greca, i corpi con cartigli circolari intervallati da grandi palmette e girali, tutti opacizzati, recanti in uno dei cartigli l'incisione del medesimo cimiero e motto, in un altro una testa di medusa, i manici con anelli in avorio, terminanti in mascheroni, cimate da una pigna, la zuccheriera tripode con piedi ferini ed una base trilobata liscia, le pinze per lo zucchero con decoro floreale sbalzato e cesellato, lo stemma inciso appartiene ai Casley, originariamente Chastelai, famiglia di origine francese trasferitasi in Inghilterra, (ref. Burke's General Armorial, pag. 175)
Condition
In very good conditions, the gilding slightly worn as usual. A bruise on the ewer's cover and one on the tea pots cover. The two covers do not close perfectly the sugar pliers are Dublin 1869/70. all pieces are fully marked with visible marks.
