Questa tazza con piattino mostra un'interpretazione del motivo a Rovine di qualità altissima per la ricchezza cromatica, lo smalto brillante e per l'elaborata cartella caratterizzata da una doratura calda e ricca che non trova eguali tra i pezzi dipinti col medesimo decoro, illustrati da Carmen Ravanelli Guidotti in Thesaurus, Faenza, 1998, pp 653-655, figg 1,2, scheda n 197. La studiosa rivela che al genere delle Rovine si dedicarono i pittori Luigi Benini e Comerio e come la radice di questo tema ornamentale traesse origine dall'ispirazione arcadica neoclassica e dalla maniera dei cosiddetti "Rovinisti" bolognesi specializzati in vedute e capricci architettonici.
