Una coppia di tavoli da parete in legno intagliato, scolpito e dorato Genova, ultimo quarto del secolo XVIII

ciascuno con la fascia centrata da figure allegoriche sopra ghirlande riunite da un anello retto dal morso di una maschera grottesca, con volute di girali ai lati, le gambe scanalate e rastremate con piedi a bocciuolo coronato da vaso a palma, sotto patera entro riquadro, i piani d'epoca più tarda impiallacciati in Bianco e Nero di Acquitania con ciglio in bronzo dorato, recano etichetta cartacea di provenienza.

Substantially in good conditions. One of the festoons hanging from the front center is broken. Some losses on the carving of the front frame. The gilding is chipped but not retouched; some minor losses on the legs.

Connotati da un poderoso impianto architettonico, reso vibrante dalla finezza dell'intaglio, i due tavoli si avvicinano ad alcuni esemplari di consoles eseguite a Genova nell'ultimo quarto del XVIII secolo. In tutti quegli arredi arredi si riscontra la stessa importanza data alla fascia sotto il piano concepita come un robusto fregio classico dotato di numerosi registri e marcato da risalti: questo gusto, direttamente derivato da Roma ma in alcuni casi ancor più accentuato si riscontra in tavoli noti (A. Gonzalez-Palacios, Il mobile in Liguria, Genova, 1996, figg.350, 352-3, 360, 367). Un tavolo del Palazzo Reale di Genova presenta sostegni assai prossimi a quelli dei nostri tavoli, mentre una console in collezione privata mostra una placca centrale non troppo dissimile da quella che qui si vede (ill. in Villa Cimena, Torino,  2003, p.173).
L'etichetta identifica il proprietario di questi arredi in Pietro d'Acquarone (Genova 1890-Sanremo 1948), personaggio che ebbe grandi cariche nella corte dei Savoia. Fu gentuomo della regina per divenire poi Ministro della Real Casa nel 1939 ed ebbe un ruolo di importanza fra la corte e il governo nel 1943.

These tables are typical of the Genoese Neoclassical style, famous for the monumental conception of the structure and the details of the carving. Several other side tables can be compared to our: all of them presents the same rich frieze used on the apron, enhanced on the corners and centered by a sculpted element in a sort of adaptansion of the Roman Neoclassical taste (cfr. A. Gonzàlez-Palacios, Il mobile in Liguria, Genova, 1996, figg.350, 352-3, 360, 367). The supports of this table in the Royal Palace of Genoa could be compared to the same elements in our furnitures; coparisons could be made also with the genoese table in a privat collection decorated with a central panel not too far from the one we can see here (Villa Cimena, Torino,  2003, p.173).
The Pietro d'Acquarone, whose name is written in a label, was one of the most important member of the Italian Royal household, close to the Queen and Chief of the Real Casa from 1939, he mantained his appointments till 1943.
