Description
- Ben Levene
- still life with begonias
- signed with initials; signed and inscribed 26 Netherby Road SE23 on the reverse
- oil on canvas
- 76x63.5cm.; 30x25in.
Condition
The canvas is original. There is some evidence of extremely light frame rubbing to the upper left and lower right and left corners. There are a few faint lines of paint cracking to the right of the bowl, to the left of the bottle, and elsewhere in the foreground. The work appears to be in otherwise good condition. Examination under ultraviolet light reveals some separation to a surface varnish in the upper right corner, in places to the foliage and to the plant pot. There does not appear to be any visible evidence of retouching. Held in a simple modern silver painted frame in fair condition.
