Our first fall sale of American art features more than two hundred paintings, drawings and sculptures by many of America’s finest artists, including property from two noteworthy private collections, that of Margie and Robert E. Petersen and the collection of Susan Kahn Rosenkranz and Richard Rosenkranz.
The centerpiece of the sale is our cover lot, an iconic image from 1919 by Norman Rockwell, “Is He Coming?” from a major corporate collection. Other highlights include important paintings by Rockwell Kent, Grandma Moses, Marsden Hartley, Reginald Marsh, Grant Wood, Marvin Cone and Ben Shan. Among the sculpture lots are works by Boris Lovet-Lorski, Bela Lyon Pratt and Bessie Potter Vonnoh. Also featured are works by John Henry Twachtman, Joseph Raphael, Walter Gay, Maurice Prendergast, George Bellows, William Merritt Chase and Carroll Sargent Tyson, Jr. From the nineteenth century, we offer genre paintings by John George Brown, a lovely still life by John Beigel and landscapes by Asher Brown Durand, Albert Bierstadt and Robert Salmon, among many others.
The viewing begins on September 22nd and we look forward to welcoming you to our galleries.
