L'État de veille L’État de veille belongs to a series of gouaches featuring several emblematic motifs in Magritte’s works: a sky filled with clouds, window frames and a house façade. Painted in the first half of 1958, they were inspired by a vision expressed by Magritte’s friend Jacques Wergifosse.
