Jules de Balincourt Biography
Jules de Balincourt is a French-born American contemporary artist, based in Brooklyn, New York and Malpais, Costa Rica. He is best known for his abstract, atmospheric paintings, with saturated colors, together blutting th boundaties between fantasy and reality. Internationally recognized for his radiant artworks, de Balincourt's pieces delve into the socio-political and cultural dynamics of our increasingly interconnected world. de Balincourt graduated from the California College of Arts and Crafts, San Francisco in 1998 and earned a Master of Fine Arts at Hunter College, New York in 2005. In 2009, his work was featured in the 10th Havana Biennial at the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes. In 2021, de Balincourt presented his first solo exhibition in Spain, titled After The Gold Rush, at the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo, Málaga.
Throughout his career, de Balincourt has been the focus of solo exhibitions at prestigious venues such as the Kasseler Kunstverein in Kassel, Germany, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth in Texas, and the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo. His art is also prominently featured in collections worldwide, including those of the Brooklyn Museum in New York, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in California, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in Canada, the Collezione Maramotti in Reggio Emilia, Italy, and the Rochechouart Museum of Contemporary Art in France.
