This week's Shortlist features five men's performance watches you can bid on now in Hong Kong's Fine Watches sale.

F rom piloting an aircraft to yacht racing to riding in a polo match, there's a watch for basically any athletic endeavor you can think of. These watches are workers—providing accurate chronometry, protection from flying objects, excellent water resistance and more.

Of course, you don't need to be a deep-sea diver to wear a Panerai Submersible, or an astronaut to wear an Omega Speedmaster, but it's nice to know that if you really wanted to descend into the depths of the ocean or fly to the moon with your watch, you could. This week's Shortlist picks five of our favorite sport watches from the upcoming Fine Watches sale in Hong Kong—bid now before you miss out!

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak

Royal Oak Offshore “Survivor” Chronograph, Reference 26165IO.OO.A002CA.01. A limited edition black ceramic and titanium chronograph wristwatch with date, Circa 2009. Estimate: 120,000 - 200,000 HKD .

This is not your father's Royal Oak. Sometimes known as "The Beast," the Royal Oak Offshore was inspired by yacht racing and features oversized proportions and ultra-sporty details like a rubber bracelet and gasket. This limited edition black ceramic and titanium chronograph takes this aesthetic to the next level.

Panerai Submersible

Panerai Submersible "Bronzo Blu Abisso", Reference PAM1074. A bronze wristwatch with date, Circa 2021. Estimate: 80,000 - 120,000 HKD.

This Panerai Submersible has a bronze case—an unusual material in the watch world. For this hefty timepiece, though, it feels special and unique, especially when paired with the "Blu Abisso" dial. Panerai's maritime association explains why this looker is also a worker: it's an ISO-compliant dive watch with 300 meters of water resistance.

IWC Portugeiser

IWC Portugeiser, Reference 5001. A stainless steel wristwatch with date and power reserve indication, Circa 2010. Estimate: 42,000 - 60,000 HKD.

IWC's Portugeiser also has nautical roots, having been designed for two Portuguese merchants looking for a timepiece with the extraordinary accuracy of a marine deck observation chronometer. This modern version is an everyday watch that will go with everything.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso

Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Day-Night, Reference 270.2.54. A pink gold reversible dual time wristwatch with 24 hour indication, Circa 2000. Estimate: 80,000 - 120,000 HKD.

Though it might look and feel like a dress watch now, the original Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso was designed for polo players who wanted a timepiece they could wear during games—the case swung out and reversed so that solid metal would face front, reducing the shatter risk posed by errant polo balls. This update dispenses with the solid side, opting instead for another, sportier dial. It might not be appropriate for the polo field, but the original DNA remains.

Omega Speedmaster

Omega Speedmaster ‘Michael Schumacher The Legend Collection’, Reference 3506.31.00. A special edition chronograph wristwatch with date and bracelet, Circa 2005. Estimate: 32,000 - 48,000 HKD.

It doesn't get much more sporty than walking on the moon. Omega's Speedmaster was the first watch up there, thanks to Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong. This chronograph, however, is named for the late race car driver Michael Schumacher who won seven Formula One championships. The watch is a winner in more ways than one.
