Biography

Sigal Mordechai is a Senior Director and the Managing Director of Sotheby’s Israel.

An expert in Israeli Art and Modern and Contemporary International Art, she consults with Israeli and international art collectors as well as major corporate and public collections in Israel. Ms Mordechai established the annual Sotheby’s prize for young artists “Under the Hammer” during Fresh Paint art fair, and was the founder of the first Contemporary Design exhibition “Dream Objects” held at Sotheby’s Tel-Aviv in October 2011.

Ms Mordechai is highly involved in charity organizations and has initiated the collaboration of Sotheby’s Israel annual charity art auctions for “Mifalot Education and Society Enterprises”, “Make a Wish” Israel and others.  She is a board member of “Mifalot (International) Education and Society Enterprises”. In 2012 she was one of the co-founders of  “The Young Friends Circle” of Batsheva dance company, and is on the Public Council of Batsheva dance company. 

Sigal Mordechai has a BA from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem in History of Art and South-East Asian studies, and is a Cinema graduate from Camera Obscura School of Arts in Tel Aviv.
