Biography

Marianna Lora joined Sotheby’s Belgium in 2010 where she is currently in charge of different departments : Old Masters and 19th century paintings, drawings and sculptures ; Jewels and Handbags ; Silver, Furniture and Decorative Arts.

Prior to joining Sotheby’s, she spent three years at the Louvre Museum as Assistant Curator, then four years at the Sorbonne University as Junior Lecturer in Italian Renaissance Art.

After obtaining a degree in History of Art from the Ca’ Foscari University in Venice, she received a Master's degree in History of Art from the Sorbonne in Paris.

Mrs Lora is a frequent lecturer and has been published in numerous journals. She is the coauthor of Nudité Sacrée. Le nu dans l’art religieux de la Renaissance, entre érotisme, dévotion et censure (Paris, 2011).
