Biography
Jonathan Cheng is Vice President and Director of Los Angeles Operations at Sotheby’s and has been a member of the team since 2014. Based in the Los Angeles office, he supports clients across the West Coast and globally in all aspects of the sale process at auction and private sale.
In this role, he oversees the operations of the Los Angeles office, supporting a key region within Sotheby’s global business. Jonathan oversees consignments and manages transactions from initial inquiry through post-sale, with a focus on valuations, business operations, and client management.
He works with specialists and cross-functional teams to support high-value consignments and sales across both auction and private channels. He also plays a key role in the execution of exhibitions and related initiatives in Los Angeles.
Prior to joining Sotheby’s, Jonathan interned at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History of Art from the University of California, Berkeley.
