Biography
James Sevier joined Sotheby’s in 2004 after graduating from Edinburgh University with a Masters Degree in Art History. In his current role as Director and Specialist, he oversees the Contemporary Art Evening Auctions in London and plays a leading role in securing consignments for auctions and private sales. James holds key relationships with many important European collectors and has played a vital role in Sotheby’s dominance of this market sector inrecent years.
He has been closely involved in the sales of major collections at Sotheby’s including Gunter Sachs and Branco Weiss. Earlier in his career at Sotheby’s, he was a member of the Evening Sales team working as a Cataloguer and Researcher, and has curated the inaugural Beyond Limits selling exhibition of monumental sculpture at Chatsworth in 2006.
