Deborah Engel is an Assistant Vice President and Senior Account Manager in the Collection Sale Management department in New York. She serves as a trusted resource to clients, handling high-value consignments spanning diverse categories.
Since joining Sotheby’s in 2020, Deborah has held positions across multiple departments, including in Silver & Judaica and as an Account Manager in Valuations, before moving into Collection Sale Management in 2022. She brings more than 20 years of experience in the art and design world, including managing major benefit auctions, overseeing a Manhattan design gallery, and working as a generalist auction specialist in New York. Her extensive background in both the art world and project management ensures that each consignment is handled with both precision and care.
Deborah's passion for her work is deeply rooted in her academic achievements. She earned her Bachelor's degree summa cum laude in Art History from George Washington University, followed by a Master's in the History of Design and Curatorial Studies from the Parsons School of Design |Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. Specializing in American 20th-century design and popular culture, she graduated with distinction, underscoring her enthusiasm for art, objects, and the stories they tell.
