A Roman Limestone Head of a Man, circa 4th/5th Century A.D


turned to his left, his long face with short curly beard, almond-shaped eyes with incised irises and single deep drill holes making the pupils, eyebrows in relief, and elaborately curled hair over the forehead, a supporting pillar with rounded top behind.

Height 31.7 cm.

private collection, first half of 20th century, based on the wood mount
