The Referecence 3960 was designed and made to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Patek Philippe in 1989. The 'Officier' was part of a series of limited edition watches marking the occasion and the first time Patek Philippe made limited edition pieces.
The 3960 is directly inspired by the extremely elegant pieces produced around 1920. The round case has attractive lugs and a hinged back to reveal the engraved dust cover. The attention to details can also be witnessed in the design of the winding crown and buckle that remind the finest early wristwatches produced by Patek Philippe.
The classical appearance of the watch continues further with the white dial with Breguet numerals and matching hands.
Patek Philippe produced 2200 examples of this model in different gold finishes.
This example is presented in excellent condition with its suite of accessories, making it a most attractive example of this timeless reference.
A similar example is illustrated in M. Huber & A. Banbery, Patek Philippe, Wristwatches, Vol. 2 Second Edition, page 123.
