A chameleon-like artist, Placido Costanzi came from a family of artists (both his father and brother were lapidaries) and spent most of his career in Rome. This Madonna and Child, a painting that dates from Costanzi's late period, reveals the influence of Pompeo Batoni and Gaspare Traversi.
