writing before the publication of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, hinting at the final book's revelations about the character of Severus Snape, also assuring her that she remembers her and thanking her for "kind words about HP" and her gift for Rowling's daughter, written in black ballpoint in an illustrated greeting card, one page, 2 December 2005, with autograph envelope

JK ROWLING HINTS AT A CRUCIAL PLOT TWIST. She had struck up a conversation with the addressee on the street in Edinburgh, and the conversation had inevitably turned to Harry Potter. Following the publication of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince in July 2005, the world was waiting to see how the series would conclude. The ambiguous figure of Severus Snape had, it seemed, finally been revealed as a villain with his apparent murder of Dumbledore, but in this note Rowling suggests that the final book - which she was writing at the time - would transform our understanding of this complex character.
