9 volumes, folio (552 x 357mm.), Dutch text, engraved maps (see below for contents), contemporary Dutch vellum gilt, some wear to binding, with rubbing and chipped or missing spine labels


Volume 1 (1664, world, Arctic, Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, Poland), engraved additional title, 90 engraved maps and plates, most double page, including plans of Tycho Brahe’s observatory and illustrations of his instruments, one map chipped just affecting border


Volume 2 (1664, Germany, Austria, Switzerland), 107 engraved maps, mostly double-page


Volume 3 (2 parts in one volume, 1664, the Low Countries), 2 engraved additional titles with letterpress overslips, 65 engraved maps, mostly double-page


Volume 4 (1648, Britain), engraved title with letterpress overslip, 58 double-page engraved maps


Volume 5 (1654, Scotland and Ireland), engraved title with letterpress overslip, 55 engraved maps, all but one double-page, some damp-staining towards beginning


Volume 6 (1658, France), engraved title with letterpress overslip, 66 engraved maps, one large and folding, the others double-page, general map of France with tear at foot, occasional damp-staining


Volume 7 (undated, Italy and Greece), engraved title with letterpress overslip, 67 engraved maps, mostly double-page, the first four maps of Greece in duplicate, making a total of 71 maps in the volume


Volume 8 (1665, Spain, Africa and America), engraved title with letterpress overslips, 2 sectional titles, 64 double-page engraved maps, some occasional browning to text


Volume 9 (1664, Asia and China), letterpress title, engraved additional title with overslip, engraved sectional title for the Chinese part, 28 double-page engraved maps, one map torn


A GOOD SET OF THE DUTCH TEXT EDITION OF BLAEU’S MONUMENTAL Atlas Major. Generally very clean, with excellent impressions.
