An account of Thomas Thornton's tour of France, compiled by letters he sent to his friend the Earl of Darlington, recounting the sports of the region, following his book A Sporting Tour through the Northern Parts of England and Great Part of the Highlands of Scotland which addressed the hunting, shooting, angling and hawking he did on his tour there. Thornton was a proponent of the country sports, reviving falconry on his Yorkshire estate.
