After Henry Aston Barker
Panorama of Constantinople, [c.1813, or later]
a series of 16 hand-coloured sheets forming a continuous 360o panorama of Constantinople (total visible image area when joined: 362 x 3977mm.), hand-coloured-lithographs, laid onto card and mounted on three sections of thick board with a green painted wooden frame (total external dimensions of frame when mounted together: 478 x 4087mm.), final sheet in pen and ink and watercolour, some slight damage, minor loss and wear; sold not subject to return
This panorama is closely based on Barker's famous aquatint panorama of Constantinople which was published as 8 large aquatints in 1813 together with an engraved title and key plate. There is no visible publisher or imprint and we have been unable to trace any other lithographed example or note of one in the standard bibliographies.
