Description

NIKE, NIKE ZVEZDOCHKA, SIZE 9

Rubber, Cotton, Synthetic

2004

First released in 2004 and later reissued in limited numbers by NikeLab, the Zvezdochka remains one of Nike’s most innovative and unconventional designs. Conceived by Australian industrial designer Marc Newson, the sneaker was inspired by space exploration and named after the Russian cosmonaut dog that orbited Earth aboard Sputnik 10 in 1961.

The Zvezdochka features a modular construction with a perforated exoskeletal shell encasing a removable inner bootie, engineered for versatility, breathability, and visual impact. Complete with a Zoom Air unit in the heel, the silhouette balanced radical experimentation with performance-driven functionality.

Offered in this lot is a 2004 pair that exemplifies Newson’s design ethos: conceptual yet practical, futuristic yet wearable. Now regarded as a landmark of early 2000s footwear innovation, the Zvezdochka endures as both a collectible artifact and a bold statement in experimental fashion.
