Description

Freddie Mercury’s yellow And black striped jacket, extensively worn, mid-1970s

a single-breasted fitted jacket of yellow and black striped silk, the yellow ground machine-embroidered in gold with a pattern of lions, with two slanted slit pockets to hips and one to left breast, small slits to either cuff, single button fastening, lead weights sewn into the front hem, lined in black satin and labelled ‘Henry A La Pensée [...] St. Honore, Paris’

This jacket was clearly a favourite of Freddie’s, as evidenced by the many photos of him wearing it during the mid-1970s: on Queen’s first trip to Japan, 1975; at Ridge Farm recording studios, 1975; with Todd Rundgren from Scene magazine, 1976; and on many other occasions.
