Freddie Mercury's 39th birthday party bullet braces, Henderson's nightclub, Munich, 1985
A pair of black-and-white braces, one side with eight empty bullet casings attached, worn by Freddie Mercury with the military style jacket (see lot 240) at his infamous 39th birthday party at Henderson’s nightclub, Munich, 5 September 1985 (photos of the braces being worn show 13 bullets casings); and a straw boater decorated with black and white ribbons worn by Mary Austin at the same event; there are photographs of Freddie also wearing these braces and receiving a guitar-shaped cake at another 39th birthday event organised by a friend who couldn’t make it to Henderson’s, two days later on 7 September 1985 at a nightclub in Ulm – on this occasion the black side of the braces are seen to be decorated with a gold brooch
