The attribution to Elias van den Broeck was endorsed by Dr Fred G. Meijer upon first-hand inspection prior to the sale in 2002 (see Provenance). A signed work by the artist, also on panel, of comparable size and composition, was sold in London in 2014 for £52,500.1
