Nicolas Petit, cabinetmaker, received master in 1761.

The very rare shape of our table rafraichissoir is found on a number of listed models, including two illustrated in N. de Reyniès, Le Mobilier domestique, Paris, 1987, Tome 1, p. 340-341 :

  • One attributed to Teuné, former Jansen collection, Paris,
  • One stamped by Canabas, sale on 16 June 1977 in Versailles.

Our table has gilt bronze mounts and a richer marquetry decoration than those mentioned above, which can be found on furniture made by Nicolas Petit.
