The perpetual calendar chronograph lineage in Patek Philippe is arguably one of the most important combinations of complications in the world of horology. Since the introduction of the reference 1518 in 1941, this series has been highly collectible, with numerous auction records broken and prices reaching new heights. The reference 5970, which was Thierry Stern’s first project when he became President of Patek Philippe, pays homage to its predecessors while incorporating a contemporary design.

The current reference 5971 is a luxurious variation of the reference 5970, featuring 36 baguette-cut diamonds set into the 40 mm platinum case. It houses the legendary calibre 27-70Q movement, which was made exclusively for Patek Philippe and powers the complications depicted on the glossy black dial, including a tachymeter scale. The reference was discontinued in 2011 and is the last to use the Lemania-based movement before switching to a fully in-house movement.

Elegant and highly coveted timepiece, the present represents an incredibly timeless combination of complications while cleverly showcases the watchmaking skills and mastery of Patek Philippe.
