Description
Château Latour 1970
Pauillac, 1er Cru Classé
u. 3bn, 4vts, 5ts, 1t/hs, 2 labels very slightly soiled, otherwise very good labels, 1 capsule slightly corroded on top, 10 slightly damaged on side by divider, 8 tissue wrapped
In 2019, I have never had a better bottle (from our own stock, bought in the 1970s, with perfect storage). Great colour and a true Pauillac First Growth cassis nose, with an affinity to Mouton here. Aromatic Cabernet at its height and headily scented with sublime terroir. A fabulous sensation on the palate, with power, succulence, fruit and...obvious future longevity. An incredible cocoa powder finish - intoxicating really. A sleeping giant - perhaps only dozing. In 2020, it is just so soft and velvety, totally mouth-filling. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
