Description

Old Rip Van Winkle 20 Year Old Single Barrel "Sam's" 133.4 Proof 1982 (Signed Bottle)

Single barrel selection for Sam's Wines & Spirits, distilled on December 7th 1982, bottled on May 25th 2003, selected and bottled exclusively for Sam's Wines & Spirits by Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery, Frankfort, Kentucky, cask strength, unfiltered, bottle #54 of 60, top right hand corner of front label slightly stained

This bottle has been signed by Julian Van Winkle III specially for The Great American Whiskey Collection

Arguably the most sought-after and legendary bottle of Kentucky Bourbon ever produced, the 'Sam's' is the highest proof Van Winkle bottle ever released at an incredible 133.4 Proof. With only 60 bottles ever made, each hand-numbered, its rarity is second to none. Distilled at Stitzel-Weller back in 1982, the whiskey was bottled un-chill filtered and sold for around $100, a very high price for the day. Due to its tiny production and extremely high proof, the bottle has long been the most desirable to any Van Winkle collector, which has seen its value rise exponentially, as only a handful are still known to exist. This bottle, sold as part of The Great American Whiskey Collection, is the first time the 'Sam's' has come to auction in more than 10 years. Sam's Wines & Spirits was sold Binny's Beverage Depot in 2009.
