The elegantly arranged dial of this watch draws inspiration from a pocket watch with a double chapter ring that Cartier introduced in the early 1910s. These original double chapter ring watches featured two distinct high-sheen rings: one at the outer edge of the dial displaying hours in the standard 12 hour format, and an additional inner 24-hour ring neatly positioned between the dial’s centre and the outer chapter. They employed an hour hand with a double taper – essentially two spade tips – that simultaneously indicated the time on both the 12-hour and 24-hour calibrated rings.

Adding to its refinement, the platinum case is particularly slim in design. Cartier’s super-slim dress watches, including the renowned Couteau or knife-edge models, are celebrated as some of the era’s most impressive achievements. Famous for their impossibly thin profiles, these timepieces exemplify Cartier’s mastery of both design and engineering. The present watch, with a case depth of just 3.7mm (including the crystal), highlights this expertise.
