The use of red and black lacquer to create this Cartier Art Deco lipstick holder reflects the height of 1920s and 1930s fashion trends, where bold, dramatic contrasts symbolised modernity and sophistication. Red, often associated with passion and glamour, provides a striking contrast to black, which conveys elegance and timeless style. Together, they envelop the mystery of the canister, which conceals the lipstick within. Adding to its allure, the top of the lipstick holder is set with a watch, introducing an additional layer of sophistication and utility.
