A small and luxurious travelling accessory, this musical alarm clock plays “Eine kleine Nachtmusik,” one of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s most celebrated compositions. Composed in 1787, this enduring piece, officially titled “Serenade No. 13 for strings in G major,” is renowned for its bright and jubilant opening movement. The inclusion of this iconic melody adds an additional refinement to this Cartier clock.
The movement is A. Schild’s calibre 1475, which incorporates an alarm function. As one of the most successful vintage alarm watch mechanisms, the calibre 1475 was widely used by various manufacturers, including Tudor in their Advisor model and Movado in their Ermetophon alarm purse watch. In this instance, the mechanism has been ingeniously paired with a musical module supplied by the specialist firm Reuge. When the alarm time is reached, the AS calibre movement activates the Reuge musical module which then plays Mozart’s composition.
