In-8 (192 x 142 mm). Veau souple noir estampé à froid, à recouvrements. Non coupé. Dans un emboîtage en bois laqué orange (365 x 240 x 65 mm) de l'éditeur.

Minimes éclats de peinture. Petites griffes. Petites frottements sur les plaques de plexiglas.

Édition de luxe, dans sa sculpture en bois verni, signée, et 4 multiples signés.

Un des 80 exemplaires de tête (n° 12), comportant :

- un "emboîtage-sculpture" conçu par Lucio Fontana, en bois laqué orange ;

- 4 œuvres originales de l'artiste, numérotées et signées "LF" à la pointe d'acier. Deux sont en métal (acier et cuivre), deux en matières synthétiques (rose opaque, jaune translucide).

L'emboîtage-sculpture est signé "L. Fontana" et numéroté 12/80 à sa base ; deux abattants permettent d'accéder au livre et aux multiples. Celui-ci est orange ; on en connaît aussi des rose, vert ou jaune.

"Fontana conceived of Portrait of Antonin Artaud as a hybrid between an illustrated book and an object. Its largest component is a container for a book by Otto Hahn about the French playwright, actor, poet, artist, and theater director Antonin Artaud (1896–1948), whose transgressive ideas fascinated many artists in the 1960s. Fontana’s 'illustrations' for the book are oval-shaped sheets of different materials including two in vibrant hues of translucent plexiglass. The die-cut holes in each one extended from his practice of slashing and puncturing his paintings." (MOMA, Book/Shelf, 2008).
