Thomas P. Stafford’s Typed Letter Signed reads: “This crew emblem was carried on the flight of Apollo 17 during December 7 to 19, 1972. It was taken to the lunar surface and stayed some 75 hours inside Lunar Module Challenger between December 11 and 14, 1972. It was given to me by Apollo 17 Commander Gene Cernan after the flight. Gene was my LMP on the Apollo 10 flight I commanded during May 1969.”
