After the Tank, the Cartier Pasha is the most popular and celebrated creation of the Maison.
It was conceived by Gérald Genta in 1985, inspired by a vintage model created by Louis Cartier for the Pasha of Marrakech El Glaoui.
While originally designed as a sport watch, the Pasha was used as a canvas by Cartier to show the extraordinary palette their highly skilled craftsmen. With this Pasha Panthère, they mastered several techniques to decorated the timepiece with a resting panther, a symbol of Cartier, on the dial and the bezel, hence connecting these two parts. The communion of the case and dial is further stressed by the admirable work on the gold with curved bands alternating different finishes and highlighted by a row of diamonds, most probably suggesting a night sky in the wild.
Very difficult to produce, these special Pasha pieces were produced in small quantities, such as this example which is number 4 out of 20 pieces.
