Introduced in 2001 the reference 5079 was an important grand complication of Patek Philippe, produced for 5 years only it highlights the manufacturer's astounding capability in minute repeaters and enamelling.
Elegant and pure, the white enamel dial is decorated by contrasting black Roman numerals and a sophisticated railway minute track. Upon close inspection, one will notice the text "Cadran Email" to be imprinted at the bottom of the dial, in which "Email" translates to enamel from French. The earliest examples of the reference 5079 would bear a text printed "Cadran Suisse Email", on the other hand. The case is forged in an immaculate hue of yellow gold, and has a hefty presence of 42 mm. Such is to house the calibre R 27 PS equipped with the cathedral gongs, a lengthier gong encircling the movement twice. Upon activation of the repeater, the gongs would produce superior sound quality and clarity, compared to regular repeaters. Truly a remarkable timepiece, the reference 5079 stands to be one of the best repeaters produced by the prestigious manufacturer.
