Description

the first, Gebrüder Toussaint, Hanau, circa 1810, rectangular, the engine-turned lid and base framed by slender dark blue enamel borders and chased two-coloured gold tulip and leaf borders, curved sides and rose gold thumbpiece, maker's mark GT within rosette, Hanau shield mark and Hesse lion, the left rim numbered: 2237,

Length 3 1/4 in., 8.2 cm;

the second, a three-colored gold example by Charles Colins & Söhne, Hanau, circa 1815, all sides decorated with chased borders of tulip and trefoil ornaments within rose gold arches on a sablé ground, around rose gold engine-turned panels, plain oval cartouche to the front of the lid, maker's mark CCS in a vertical lozenge,

the third, probably Hanau, circa 1815, the lid decorated with a shaped chevron engine-turned panel within chased four-coloured gold flower and fruit borders, the curved sides and base similarly decorated, Hanau shield mark, further struck 14 in an oval within two oak leaves,

the fourth, a pocket-shaped example, probably Geneva, early 19th century, rectangular with cut corners, all sides decorated with lozenge engine-turning, within chased strapwork and anthemion borders, maker's mark crowned M incuse, 3eme titre 1798-1809, further illegible mark in an oval,
