the first, probably English, circa 1760, circular, the domed lapis lazuli lid and base panels mounted in gold chased with rocailles in between flowers and scrollwork, scrolling thumbpiece, apparently unmarked
Diameter 2 ¼ in., 5.9 cm;
the second, possibly Charles Colins & Söhne, Hanau, circa 1820, rectangular, the lid later applied with a carved lapis lazuli plaque, flanked by chased varicoloured gold floral and husk borders on a matted ground, small thumbpiece, engine-turned sides and base, rubbed maker’s mark in a lozenge, possibly CCS, Hanau control mark
Length 2 ⅜ in., 6 cm;
the third, a small rectangular snuff box, 19th century, possibly formerly an implement of a larger necessaire, the lid chased with an oval trophy of love en trois couleurs, surmounted with a ribbon, the sides and base decorated with zig-zag bands, apparently unmarked
