rectangular with cut corners, all sides set with en grisaille enamel plaques of putti and classically-dressed figures playing music and allegorical of friendship, on a cherry red translucent enamel ground over trellis engine-turning, stamped openwork mounts, the applied floral thumbpiece set with rose-cut diamonds and garnets, the front rim spuriously engraved: Roucel Orfe du Roi A Paris, French prestige marks including maker's mark for Louis Roucel, charge and discharge marks for Jean Jacques Prevost, Paris date letter B for 1765
