Nike Air Tailwind 79

On offer is the OG release Nike Air Tailwind 79 - finished in a metallic silver synthetic upper with suede overlays. The tongue pays homage to the retro Nike logo and the shoe sits atop a white midsole and black waffle outsole. The midsoles read PAT PEND in reference to the patent pending for the Nike Air and the outsole reads, 3,793,750, the Waffle patent number.

Originally created as a running shoe, the reimagined Nike Tailwind has become a beloved favorite for both sport and lifestyle alike. The design embodies sleek versatility and incorporates the hidden Air unit in the midsole. Nike’s Air technology, developed by NASA engineer Frank Rudy, first debuted nearly a decade prior to the Air Tailwind. The model debuted in 1978 in the Honolulu Marathon, before a wider production run in 1979 introduced  the silhouette, and the air technology, to the world.
