4to (225 x 160mm.), text in Greek, woodcut devices on title-page and on final verso, some printing in red, 2-line initials supplied in manuscript, with both blank leaves, quire A misprinted, eighteenth-century Italian speckled calf, spine gilt in compartments, occasional light foxing
THE FIRST GREEK BOOK TO BE PRINTED IN ROME. The editio princeps of Pindar's victory odes had appeared two years earlier in Venice, printed by Aldus Manutius, though without the scholia included here. Aldus and Kallierges were both renowned for the elegance of their Greek typefaces.
