Lot Details

Description

circular with simple engraved border, engraved at the rim with a coat-of-arms, the base with a monogram, marked on border with maker's mark only

diameter 27cm. (10¾in.)

603gr., 19 1/4oz.

A dish of 1683 by this maker is listed in David M. Mitchell, Silversmiths in Elizabethan and Stuart London, 2017, p.295. The same maker's mark has been noted on several porringers, one with stand, lending support to the notion that this is the function of the current lot.
