Sotheby’s London, 8th December 2022, lot 281 (one of a pair).
Wares bearing the hallmark of Zhiyuantang (The Hall of Extended Remoteness) are attributed by scholar Geng Baochang to the Qianlong period (1735-1795) and seemingly all feature designs of dragons in flight amongst clouds. Compare two related dishes of this design sold in these rooms, 25th November 2022, lot 357 and 7th April 2015, lot 3702 respectively; and a pair of bowls, also decorated with dragons and clouds, sold in these rooms, 5th April 2017, lot 3681.
