AN EARLY BIBLIOGRAPHY. An alphabetical list of Florentine writers, listed by first name rather than surname, with a summary of their life and works, often considered a valuable source of information. The index helpfully lists authors by subject. Poccianti was a Servite friar and the prior of the monastery of Santissima Annunziata in Florence, where he had a new library (presumably with substantial holdings) constructed. Poccianti died in 1576 and his work was completed by a fellow friar, Luca Ferrini, who unsurprisingly added a lengthy entry about Poccianti himself.
