A spectacular neoclassical gilt-bronze mounted Hungarian ash and rosewood inlaid bed supplied by Rupert Cavendish, circa 1985-90

the arched headboard with neoclassical gilt-bronze mounts and rosewood inlaid swags, the uprights with gilt-painted spheres either side of a border inlaid with stars above buttoned silk padded back board, the sides and footboard with conforming decoration together with a Swiss carved and painted pine pelmet, 18th century and later adapted from an armoire cornice, with canted corners (178 by 67cm; 70 by 26⅛in.)

Empire style bed, approx. height 199 by width 205 by length 206.5cm., 6ft. 6¼in., 6ft. 8¾in., 6ft. 9¼in.
